André J Fanthome is a self-taught photographer based out of New Delhi, India, whose work spans diverse sectors, with a special focus on Wildlife Architectural and Development Photography. His clientele includes leading national and international real estate companies, corporate houses, publications, and developmental agencies across South Asia.
Fanthome's approach is deeply rooted in the belief that every photograph carries a responsibility not just to the viewer, but to the moment being captured, making his work both deliberate and emotionally charged reaction to the experiences life has blessed him with. For him, a photograph is never just a document; it is an emotionally charged response to the privilege of witnessing.
Born and raised in a remote village in eastern Bhutan, Fanthome later studied Economics at St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi. In 2009 he was awarded the ‘National Academy Award for Visual Art’ by the National Lalitkala Academy – becoming, at 27, the youngest of three photographers to have ever received this National Honour. Passionate about mentoring those who share his love for the medium he has lectured extensively across the country.
Away from the tripod, André is an avid birder, a global traveler, and a soulful cook-pursuits that act as a silent subtext to his work. His 'seasoned' perspective allows him to move seamlessly between high-stakes commercial commissions and socially-charged developmental photography, ensuring that his art serves as both a record of progress and a catalyst for impact.
